What is Pelvic Floor Therapy?
Pelvic floor therapy is treatment for problems related to the pelvic floor. This specialized therapy utilizes a whole-person approach to help relieve symptoms like pain, discomfort, and disruptions to your quality of life.
The pelvic floor refers to the muscles that support your reproductive and urinary tract, including your bladder, uterus/prostate, and rectum, and also wrap around the urethra, vagina (in females), and rectum. These muscles attach to your pelvis, tailbone, sacrum. In addition to providing support, they also help you control bladder and bowel function.

What To Expect
Your first appointment will consist of an initial evaluation. At the initial evaluation you’ll provide a thorough history including bladder and bowel health, as well as a review of your daily habits and routines. The evaluation includes assessment of your strength and range of motion. The therapist may perform both external and internal (if appropriate) muscle palpation, skin inspection, as well as strength, coordination, and endurance assessments of the pelvic floor muscles.
You will receive education on your condition(s) and treatment plan, possible home exercises, education on behavioral changes, posture, diet, and other appropriate topics.

About Us
Chelsea Liller, MOTR/L, FDN-P
Blue Ridge Pelvic Health is led by Chelsea Liller, an occupational therapist with over 13 years of experience treating patients of all ages in various settings. After seeing firsthand the need for increased awareness and treatment options for pelvic floor therapy, Chelsea dedicated her practice to the field. She is committed to using a whole-person approach to wellness, in order to set her patients up for maximum recovery and future success.
Chelsea has an undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in Nutrition and Exercise Science and received her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke, Virginia. Chelsea is passionate about nutrition and its role in wellness, and pursued a certification as a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner. Chelsea has since become fascinated with pelvic health and all that it entails, pursuing advanced training through the Herman and Wallace Institute and the Institute for Birth Healing to treat pelvic health issues in both the adult and pediatric population.
When not in the office, Chelsea enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. You can often catch her in the gym or competing in all kinds of races, whether on pavement, trails, or a Spartan course.

We accept traditional Medicare, but are out of network with other health insurance providers. Upon request, we provide patients with a “superbill” that can be submitted to private insurers for potential reimbursement. We do accept payment through Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts. A special rate may be available for those who financially qualify.

The frequency and total number of visits is completely individualized to each patient, and can vary depending on a patient’s symptoms and diagnosis.

Looser, comfortable clothing (like workout clothes) work best. You can expect gentle exercises and range of motion testing, so avoid restrictive clothing.

Although we are always happy to work with your physician, Virginia law does not require a physician referral to receive our services (except for traditional Medicare).
